Court Marriage in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Adult couples who choose to marry by their own consent need the paperwork done properly. ICTV's legal advisor guides you through the nikah, affidavits and registration.

About Court Marriage

A valid marriage needs the free consent of both parties, who must be adults under the law that applies where the nikah takes place, a proper nikah with witnesses and registration of the nikahnama. Couples often prepare affidavits and legal documents so that the marriage is properly recorded.

We explain what is required, prepare the affidavits and documents, arrange for the nikah to be performed by a nikah khawan with witnesses, and help with registration and NADRA records afterwards. If either of you has been married before, we explain what proof of divorce or death you need.

Common Questions

Short answers about court marriage.

What is the minimum age for marriage?

The minimum age depends on the law that applies in the province or in Islamabad. Both parties must be old enough under that law, and we confirm this before we start.

Do both parties have to be present?

Both parties give their consent for the nikah. If one of you is abroad, see our pages on online marriage and proxy marriage.

Is a court marriage legal?

A marriage with valid consent, a proper nikah, witnesses and registration is legally recognised. We make sure your paperwork supports it.

Can you help if my family opposes the marriage?

We advise on your legal rights and on the paperwork that records your marriage properly. We explain the risks and the options clearly.
